Understanding the limits of an online short course

Learning about safety is useful, but workplace arrangements depend on the actual task, equipment, premises and people involved. An employer must decide what information, instruction, supervision and training its workers need. A general online awareness course cannot make someone a competent person for work at height, qualify them as a workplace first aider, or replace site-specific fire procedures.

If you are studying in the UK, consult the Health and Safety Executive's guidance on training and follow your employer's procedures. Learners outside the UK should check the rules that apply in their location.
