Why Study Working at Heights?

It is the responsibility of every employer, manager and supervisor to take all reasonable steps to safeguard their employees.  This includes ensuring that every worker is provided with sufficient training to work safely at heights, in accordance with The Work at Height Regulations 2005. A detailed knowledge and understanding of workplace health and safety principles is essential to prevent work-related accidents, injuries and deaths. Working at height means performing any function in an elevated position, where precautions must be taken to safeguard workers.  This extends to scaffolds, ladders, stages and raised platforms, along with any work that takes place alongside a deep trench.  The purpose of this course is to empower employers and employees alike with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to contribute to a safe and healthy working environment.

By the end of this course the learner will be able to:

  • Discuss how to work on a ladder or a flat roof;
  • What could fall through a fragile surface;
  • What could fall into an opening in a floor or a hole in the ground
