This introductory Level 1 Fashion Design Course for beginners is open for enrolment year-round, with no specific knowledge or experience required. Get to know the basics of the fashion design industry at a deeper level across the following two chapters:
Unit 1: Introduction to Fashion Design
The course begins by providing a detailed overview of the modern design industry, along with its mechanics and importance to contemporary culture. Candidates explore key fashion trends from the last three centuries, along with an introduction to the fashion cycle and the typical duties of the professional fashion designer.
Unit 2: Elements and Principles of Design
Concluding the course, module two details the essential design elements and principles that must be considered throughout the design process. Candidates learn how to evaluate and harmonise Colours, Shapes, Lines and Textures, while carefully considering Balance, Emphasis, Repetition and more.

At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement from Quality Licence Scheme and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the components the learner has completed as part of the course).
