The course begins with an in-depth discussion of leadership and management, guiding candidates through the core traits/specifics of each and their fundamental differences. Leadership challenges from the perspective of the manager are introduced and explored, along with the role and value of SWOT Analysis – aka the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats matrix.

Course Module 2 brings leadership-performance management and a variety of management-improvement topics into consideration. Candidates explore shared vision phases, the creation of personal vision as a manager and how to both develop and work with effective mental models.

The following module brings change management into the discussion – specifically focusing on the relevance and potential value of change from a modern management perspective. Potential/effective responses to change are explored, along with a series of change management challenges and the core fundamentals of proactive change management strategies.

Strategic time management follows as the primary focus of Module 4, outlining the true value of time in a working setting and the consequences/cost of poorly-utilised time. Candidates explore a number of techniques and strategies for better-managing time, along with the importance of positively influencing the time management of others within the team or office.

An introduction to managing relationships follows in Module 5, which incorporates an exploration of key stress-management insights. Along with studying various techniques for remaining calm when faced with difficult situations, candidates explore efficient problem solving and the core elements of the relationship cycle.

The importance of planning is outlined and discussed in Module 6, guiding candidates through the fundamentals of strategic planning in order to accomplish both short and long-term goals. Course content introduces the concept of the delegation model, along with effective role/duty delegation techniques and further discussion of SWOT analysis.

Course Module 7 centres on producing and giving effective feedback for the benefit of the workforce and the business alike. An overview of the ‘Seven Cs of Effective Communication’ is provided – Clarity, Conciseness, Concreteness, Correctness, Coherence, Completeness and Courteousness – along with the most effective techniques for delivering and discussing feedback.

In the closing course module, focus shifts to the organisation and management of meetings, breaking the planning and chairing processes down into their respective key stages. The purpose and value of the professional meeting is explored in-depth, along with the importance of ongoing personal development and self-improvement.
