The second module turns attention to the strategic role of logistics, along with the most important decisions that must be made in the formulation of an effective logistics strategy. Candidates study the various different types of decisions – strategic, tactical and operational – along with the functions and objectives of logistics audits.

A detailed breakdown of the procurement cycle is presented in module three, in which candidates consider the aims and importance of strategic procurement. The differences between purchasing and procurement are also discussed, along with how to select appropriate suppliers, guidelines for monitoring supplier performance and the potential benefits of single sourcing.

Module four brings transport management into discussion, in which candidates consider the advantages and disadvantages of various different modes of transportation. The potential benefits of working with third-party transportation providers are discussed, along with several different types of intermodal transport and important cost considerations.

Module five brings delivery operations management into discussion, in which candidates study the four most important rules for effective order management. Concluding the course, module eight guides candidates through the process of creating and implementing an effective market distribution strategy.
