The first module introduces candidates to the fundamentals of Six Sigma, including its functions, objectives and limitations in an organisational setting. Candidates are also introduced to the DMAIC project management philosophy - (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control) - along with the history and evolution of Six Sigma since its introduction.

Module two familiarises candidates with a selection of important project improvement tools, along with their applications and functions respectively. Examples of which include Cause Effect Diagrams, Histograms, Flowcharts, Scatter Diagrams, Pareto Analysis, Check Sheets and Control Charts. The pros and cons of these primary project management tools are also presented and discussed.

The characteristics of the effective brainstorming session are examined in module three, which guides candidates through several project management tools for generating ideas. The concepts of minor and major nonconformance are also introduced, along with quality audits, affinity diagrams, the nominal group technique, consensus-building and multi-voting.

The importance of striving for continuous improvement throughout all stages of the project life cycle is discussed in module three. Candidates consider the various challenges that can hinder continuous improvement, along with a more detailed dissection of the DMAIC methodology and its components.

Concluding the course, module five examines the direct correlation between customer relationship quality and wider business performance. Candidates learn how to build and maintain stronger customer relationships, create effective surveys using the ServQual model and analyse customer satisfaction in accordance with the RATER model: Reliability, Assurance, Tangibles, Empathy, and Responsiveness.
