Module 1. Introduction to Business Development
The course begins by presenting candidates with a detailed definition of business development, along with its functions and objectives. Module 2. Developing a Business Plan
The primary components of the effective business plan are discussed in the second module, which include resource planning, fee structures, marketing and sales, budgeting and more. The importance of strategic networking is also discussed, along with the potential value of social media in business development and an introduction to SWOT analysis.
Module 3. Product Development and Product Life Cycle
Module 3 provides a comprehensive breakdown of the product development process, while discussing the various stages within the product life cycle. Candidates consider some of the reasons products fail to meet their objectives, alongside the important of market research, product testing, commercialisation and more.
Module 4. Product Pricing Strategies
In module 4, candidates learn how important it is to develop an effective pricing strategy for every new product introduced. The various factors that can affect the viability of a pricing structure are discussed, along with the importance of focusing on value from the customer’s perspective and the potential consequences of ineffective pricing.
Module 5. Branding and Packaging
The fifth module discusses the extent to which product packaging contributes to the success of both the product and the brand it represents. Factors to consider when packaging and labelling products are discussed, along with common criticisms of packaging, the importance of environmentally friendly packaging and the primary objectives of packaging.
Module 6. Marketing your Product
Concluding the course, module 6 provides a detailed introduction to marketing, presenting candidates with a breakdown of the marketing cycle and its component stages. The sales cycle is also dissected and discussed, along with market segmentation, SWOT analysis, market research, distribution channel analysis and more.
