Module 1 - Introduction to Hotel Management

Module 1 introduces a variety of different hotel and accommodation types, key hotel management systems and common hotel organisational structures.
Module 2 - Managing Front Office Operations
The management of front office operations is explored in-depth in the second module, which guides candidates through a series of core concepts including modern reservation systems, managing and coordinating front and back offices, effective supervision of team members and how to analyse and manage operational yields.
Module 3 - Housekeeping, Engineering & Security
Course content in Module 3 introduces candidates to security, engineering and housekeeping departments – the role of each within the contemporary hotel is outlined and explored in-depth. Subtopics covered include a variety of essential maintenance duties, housekeeping department responsibilities and the creation of emergency communication plans.
Module 4 - Managing Food and Beverage Operations
Focus shifts to food and beverage operations management in the following module, introducing candidates to the roles and responsibilities of those both working in and managing F&B departments. Core subtopics covered include menu planning, restaurant design and layout, cost control and budgeting, beverage selection and provision, customer service and the use of computer technology in F&B operations.
Module 5 -Recruitment and Selection
The fivth course module takes a closer look at human resources, guiding candidates through the recruitment and selection processes along with task-assignment and delegation. How hotels benefit from flexible employees is also discussed, along with how to create appropriate job descriptions, mining candidates for key information and ensuring only the very best people for the job are hired.
Module 6 - Training and Development
Human resource management continues as the central theme in Module 6, focusing on effective methods for assessing the training needs of hotel team members, how to go about developing efficient training plans and their subsequent implementation. How to effectively analyse/evaluate training plans and strategies is also discussed.
Module 7 - Marketing and Advertising
Advertising and marketing from the perspective of the contemporary hotel manager enter the discussion in Module 7. Candidates develop an understanding of how to view the hotel as a product to be marketed to a specific target audience, along with how to identify and attract customers in accordance with fair and effective pricing structures.
Module 8 - Quality Management
Management of superior quality standards represents the primary core focus of the eighth module, in which candidates investigate the importance of quality control and a series of industry quality standards/awards. Hotel inspections are also dissected in-depth, along with an overview of important regulatory requirements with regard to service quality.
At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement from the Quality Licence Scheme and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the components the learner has completed as part of the course).
