This hospitality course consists of the following three units:
The course begins by introducing candidates to the modern hospitality industry, while at the same time discussing how the industry has evolved over time. A variety of accommodation types and different types of hotel are discussed, along with the kinds of management systems and organisational structures routinely used to help run successful businesses.
Course Unit 2 turns attention to the hotel’s front desk/reception and the primary duties of the front-of-house team. Every essential front office responsibility is introduced and discussed, including working with hotel reservation systems, handling guest arrivals and departures, the basics of providing outstanding customer service, team member supervision and the importance of coordinating front and back office duties.
Bringing the course to a close, Unit 3 provides candidates with an exploration of housekeeping and food & beverage departments, along with their key responsibilities and primary human resources. Topics covered include management of fundamental housekeeping responsibilities, addressing maintenance issues, restaurant layout and design, menu planning, beverage selection, budgeting and cost control, strong customer service provision and creating emergency communication plans.
