Module 1 – The Fundamentals of Business Process Management
Candidates are introduced to the fundamentals of effective business process management in module one, which also outlines the importance of striving for continuous improvement in business. The enterprise content management model is also presented and examined, along with business analysis and its contribution to ongoing performance improvement.
Module 2 – The Vision Phase
Module two begins a fascinating exploration of the seven primary phases of business improvement, starting with the ‘vision’ phase. The definition of vision in business process improvement is discussed, along with tips for establishing an effective vision and the importance of being both objective and realistic when creating a vision.
Module 3 – The Design Phase
A fascinating introduction to the ‘design’ phase of the business improvement process follows in module three, which introduces candidates to techniques such as process mapping and the use of flow charts. Current and future process-determining techniques are also discussed, along with the key to effective information gathering and its importance.
Module 4 – The Modelling Phase
Module four turns attention to the ‘modelling’ phase, in which candidates learn how and why ‘what-if’ analysis should be carried out at this stage of the process. Course content also introduces design-testing, alongside an overview a breakdown modelling and the potential benefits of interactive design.
Module 5 – The Execution Phase
The ‘execution’ phase of the project is where process implementation begins, in which the potential benefits and drawbacks of process automation must be considered. Candidates study workflow engine implementation, the steps necessary to automate processes and key considerations regarding if, when and how automation should be implemented.
Module 6 – The Monitoring Phase
Course content then provides a detailed breakdown of the ‘monitoring’ phase, in which candidates are familiarized with the functions and objectives of Business Activity Monitoring (BAM). Module six also examines the role of process mining in business improvement, along with how to make effective use of balanced scorecards.
Module 7 – The Optimising Phase
Bringing the course to a close, module seven examines the final stage of the business improvement process – the ‘optimising’ phase. Candidates examine the six primary components of effective business process improvement, along with a fascinating introduction to the Six Sigma project management methodology and lean process improvement.
