Course Content

This construction management course online consists of the following three units:

Unit 1 - Basics of Construction Management

This construction management course begins by providing candidates with a broad introduction to both the construction industry and the role of the professional construction manager.  The various duties and responsibilities of construction managers are explored, along with a variety of additional subtopics including workforce quality management, productivity, testing, supervision and inspection.

Unit 2 - Site Organisation

Course content in Unit 2 focuses more specifically on the organisation of construction sites and how the construction manager takes control of site organisation.  Candidates explore provision of water and electricity, plant movement, storage of equipment and tools, material storage, fencing and boundary options, provision of site accommodation/offices and more.

Unit 3 - Material Management

In the final unit, material management is investigated in much greater depth.  Candidates investigate the procurement, handling and storage of essential materials, common challenges in material management and how material management contributes to the success or otherwise of the project as a whole. The integrated materials management process is also introduced and discussed.
